My Review on "Wonder" (2017)

"Wonder" is the type of film that we simply don't see enough of nowadays; it is about learning human decency when young. This is the story of August "Auggie" Pullman, a young man with facial differences that is about to start the fifth grade.

August Pullman, played superbly by 11 year old Jacob Tremblay, was born with Treacher Collins Syndrome. His mother Isabel Pullman, played by Julia Roberts, home schools Auggie until he reaches fifth grade. The movie documents how he handles the real world at a diverse local school. "Wonder" is truly a "feel good" story that helps us see strength overcome weakness and courage overcome fear.

Director Stephen Chbosky handles the content of this film with sensitivity, class and grace. We are told the story from 4 perspectives to give us a well rounded view of Auggie's world. The supporting cast is simply phenomenal! Jacob Tremblay (Auggie), Owen Wilson (Nate), Izabela Vidovic (Via) and Julia Roberts (Isabel) are 2nd to none for these roles; their on screen bond is very believable.

Jacob Tremblay as August "Auggie" Pullman in "Wonder" (2017)

I really don't want to give too much away about this movie. "Wonder" is really a necessity in this day and age of vanity, instant gratification and a lack of loyalty to the true ideals of human compassion. Children are taught who they are to become in life.

I want to be one of the first to let you know that this is a film that you need to embrace this holiday season. If I were you I'd go see it this weekend...trust me you won't be disappointed. Tell your brother, tell a friend...you'll be better for it in the end. You will walk away knowing that "...some people cannot change the way that they look but, we can change how we see."

AV3 out...
