My Review on Annihilation (2018) starring Natalie Portman and Tessa Thompson
"Annihilation" (2018) starring Natalie Portman, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Tessa Thompson, ok where do I begin?
It is without question that this was an exceptional sci-fi film. The shear magnitude of all that is being suggested here is phenomenal! Director Alex Garland of "Ex Machina" (2014) and "28 Days Later" fame has another masterpiece on his hands!

Tessa Thompson "Annihilation" (2018)
Biologist, Lena played by the always talented Natalie Portman is a wife with more questions than answers regarding her husband's whereabouts. Kane, played by Oscar Isaac is an army soldier that went on an expedition into what researchers refer to as "The Shimmering", a phenomena that surrounds a national park. What happened to Kane and his crew? No one knows. Mysteriously, Lena's husband returns after 12 months then gets sick right away. Lena takes it upon herself to find out what happened. She joins 4 other scientist and they enter "The Shimmering". The power of Annihilation is the exploration in human curiosity, fragility and the need to survive. Yes, it is a lot to unpack here! One of the film's primary themes center around human curiosity. The need to understand why something is happening will always be a part of our make-up. The problem sometimes though is, in curiousity our fragility becomes exposed; this is all circumstancial off course. Many times we as individuals and as groups expose ourselves to much more than we can handle, it becomes too much for our physical and mental conditions. Annihilation reveals the fragility of, not only humans, but it also shows the balance that earth's nature must sustain for our survival.
I could go on and on because, there really is a lot to this film. You really should see it! It may also make you question certain things you see around you; from a cellular level on up...hmm AV3 out
